Leia Stathakos-Tsialas, MD, RYT

Leia Stathakos-Tsialas, MD, RYT has been a medical doctor over the past 13 years specializing in Women's Health issues. With a strong interest in integrating conventional medicine with complementary therapies and to be able to offer other options to her patients to feel better she studied various styles of yoga for all age groups, Nutrition, Reiki, Auriculotherapy, and Meditation. She advised many of her patients who were suffering from anxiety, depression, low self esteem, excessive stress, and back issues to try yoga and was impressed but not at all surprised by the positive outcomes.

She became certified in Beginner and Intermediate Interdisciplinary Yoga at The Omega Institute in 2002 and completed another 200-hour LifePower Yoga Teacher Training in 2011 at Life Time. While she was pregnant she became certified in prenatal/postnatal yoga from Mary Barnes in New York City.

Once Leia Baby she had her first bundle of joy she knew she also wanted to bring the gift of yoga to children so she became certified through YogaKids International and baby and toddler yoga from Itsy Bitsy Yoga, trained in Karma Kids and has taught many classes in her studio in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and in Manhattan through Namaste New York.

She taught Senior Yoga for the National Parks Department in New York and Yoga for 50+ for the employees at Downstate Medical Center. Currently she teaches Chair Yoga for Senior Diabetic patients at Brookhaven Hospital Medical Center and teaches several classes in her studio in Syosset, Long Island such as Beginner and Advanced Adult, Yogakids ages 6-10, tweens and classes for teenagers and for Women over 50.

She is also a registered Yoga Teacher with the National Yoga Alliance. For one to be the healthiest that they can be, Leia believes that they must eat well, exercise and calm their mind. She loves being able to guide people in finding inner peace, balance and health to live their life to the fullest. Dr. Leia also offers nutrition and exercise counseling for those interested in losing weight or maintain their present weight but wanting to develop stronger muscles and a better and more toned physique.
